New Season of the “Monument Art” Street Art Festival Launches in Perm

This year, the festival will launch three open calls to create large-scale art installations at various city locations.

According to Perm’s Department of Culture and Youth Policy, CHP-6 at 38 Geroyev Khasana Street will be the first ground for the 2026 “Monument Art” street art festival. Artists working in muralism, monumental painting and public art are invited. They will be asked to develop a design for a large-scale artwork to be painted on the CHP-6 fence.

The theme of the first open call is “Chronicles of the Kama Region: From Origins to Innovation”. Artists would reinterpret the history of Perm Krai as a single visual narrative spanning ancient settlements, crafts, the region’s industrial development, scientific achievements, space industry and modern technologies.

The artwork should incorporate the slogans “Perm Krai – the Stronghold of the State” and “Perm Krai – Everything is Real: From the Earth’s Depths to Outer Space”. The recommended colour palette is a gradual transition from earthy, muted tones associated with the region’s ancient past and historical heritage to brighter, more saturated “digital” futuristic colours of the future. Artists should consider the specifics of urban environment and the scale of the object. The composition should be designed to be visible from a distance of at least 40 metres.

The winning design will be selected by the open call jury.

The “Monument Art” festival is a contemporary urban culture project created by Perm’s Department of Culture and Youth Policy. Thanks to it, artists from Perm, other Russian regions, and abroad create murals and monumental art objects, turning the city into an open-air gallery.
